Few modern performance cars strike a balance between elegance and aggression quite like the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53. Blending AMG performance with refined design and everyday usability, it represents the next generation of Mercedes performance coupes.

Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming this Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 into our Doncaster detailing studio for a comprehensive exterior transformation. The project focused on paint correction and the application of a high-performance ceramic coating — two services designed to refine the finish, enhance gloss, and provide long-term protection worthy of an AMG badge.

During the paint correction stage, we carefully removed swirl marks, light scratches, and factory imperfections, restoring clarity and depth to the paintwork. This process dramatically improved the overall appearance, allowing the body lines and metallic finish to truly stand out.

To complete the transformation, we applied a premium ceramic coating, offering exceptional gloss, hydrophobic properties, and durable protection against the elements. This not only elevates the visual impact of the CLE 53 but also makes maintenance significantly easier going forward.

Initial Inspection & Preparation

Every project begins with a full inspection under high-intensity lighting. Although this Mercedes CLE53 arrived straight from the showroom, brand-new cars often have minor imperfections such as light marring, dealership wash marks, or transportation haze.

The vehicle was safely washed and decontaminated using a pH-neutral shampoo, followed by a full iron and tar removal. A gentle clay bar treatment ensured a perfectly clean and smooth surface before polishing.

Single Stage Paint Correction

A light machine polishing process was performed to refine the surface and enhance gloss. This step removes minor swirl marks and significantly deepens the colour clarity of the metallic finish.
The goal is not heavy correction, but perfection — restoring true reflection, smoothness, and a mirror-like finish.

Surface Preparation

Before coating, the paint was thoroughly wiped down with CarPro Eraser to remove any polishing oils or residues. This ensures perfect bonding between the ceramic coating and the clear coat.

2-Year Ceramic Coating Application

A premium two-year ceramic coating was carefully applied panel by panel.
This coating provides:
• Long-lasting protection against UV rays, road salts, and contaminants
• Hydrophobic (water-repellent) surface for easy maintenance
• Enhanced gloss and depth of colour

Each layer was levelled and left to cure under controlled conditions to guarantee maximum durability and shine.

Final Touches

To complete the protection package:
• Glass received a hydrophobic coating for improved visibility
• Wheels were sealed with a heat-resistant ceramic layer
• Tyres were dressed with a satin-finish conditioner

After final inspection, the Mercedes CLE53 displayed an ultra-slick, glossy finish — perfectly protected and ready for the road.
