For this project, we installed front end Paint Protection Film (PPF) on a BMW Z4 to protect the most exposed areas of the vehicle from stone chips, road debris, and everyday wear. Performance cars like the Z4 are often driven enthusiastically, which makes the front end particularly vulnerable to damage from motorway driving and loose debris.
Proper preparation is essential before any PPF installation to ensure the film bonds correctly and delivers a flawless finish.
We began with a thorough exterior wash using a safe hand wash method. This removes loose dirt and surface grime from the vehicle while preventing any damage to the paintwork during the process.
Following the wash, the vehicle underwent a chemical decontamination stage. Iron fallout remover was applied to dissolve embedded metal particles from brake dust and road contamination, while a tar remover was used to break down stubborn tar spots and residues commonly found on lower panels.
Once the chemical decontamination was complete, the paintwork was carefully clayed to remove any remaining bonded contaminants. This stage ensures the paint surface is completely smooth and perfectly prepared for the film application.

Before applying the paint protection film, the front section of the vehicle was machine polished. This step refines the paintwork, removes light swirl marks and enhances the gloss and clarity of the finish.
Preparing the paint in this way ensures the surface beneath the film looks its absolute best, as PPF effectively locks in the condition of the paint underneath.

Once the preparation stages were complete, we moved on to the PPF installation process. High-quality paint protection film was carefully applied to the most vulnerable areas of the front end.
The film was positioned using a slip solution which allows precise alignment before it is carefully squeegeed down to remove any trapped air or moisture. This process ensures a clean, seamless finish that blends naturally with the vehicle’s paintwork.
Great care was taken around edges, curves, and body lines to ensure the film sat perfectly and remained as discreet as possible.

After installation, the BMW Z4 now benefits from invisible protection across the front end, helping guard the paintwork against stone chips, road debris, and minor damage from everyday driving.
The finished result maintains the vehicle’s original appearance while adding a durable layer of protection, giving the owner peace of mind when driving and preserving the condition of the paintwork for years to come.
